Starview’s Distributor CD-ROM to launch in May 2005

Starview's Distributor CD-ROM Version 1.0

Starview's complete Distributor CD-ROM Version 1.0 will be ready for distribution by mid to late May. Our newly created CD-ROM contains PDF's of all of our brochures. Individual specification / quotation sheets are included for each standard model machine we produce.

There are some new features included that we know you will appreciate. For each product type we have included resources for the materials, i.e. suppliers of blisters and blister card printers. We have provided an application data sheet that will guide you through what information we need to provide you with a proper quotation. This is an interactive PDF file. Once you have completed the form you may print it for your records. If you press the email button the contents of the form will be sent to us. Lastly we have included the all important videos. There are video presentations for every product category. These are mpeg files that can be copied and given to customers as a part of a presentation.

We will begin mailing to everyone on our distributor list toward the end of May. If you would like to receive a CD-ROM sooner please email steve@starview.net and an advance copy will be sent. Please include a current mailing address with your request. We extend our thanks to those persons who tested the Beta Versions.

In-house Thermoforming. Is my customer ready?

Model IF-2540 Automatic Vacuum Forming Machine

We are often asked "How do I know when my customer is ready to produce blisters, clamshells or trays in-house as opposed to purchasing formed parts"? There is no stock answer to this. Each situation must be evaluated on its own merit.

As a general rule clients cannot be convinced to form parts in-house as long as price and delivery of purchased formed parts is in line. Once a customer has made the decision to consider forming parts the rest is just a matter of selecting the proper system to meet their needs.

Manual Vacuum Formers

Starview offers the MT Series. This is a very low cost system to vacuum form prototype parts and test newly produced thermoform molds. The systems use sheet stock. No plug or grid assist is offered. Standard form areas of 20" x 20" and 25" x 30" are offered; however, most machines are manufactured to custom sizes to meet customer needs.

Semi Automatic Vacuum Formers

Starview's SAT Series is intended for low volume production of vacuum formed parts. These machines offer both roll and sheet feeding. Plug/grid assist as well as upper and lower heater over options are offered. Clamping frame operation and sheet cut-off (if roll fed) are manual. The SAT machines are ideal for OEM's with a relatively low production requirement.

Fully Automatic Vacuum Formers

The FOM Series and IF Series from Starview offer automatic machine operation freeing the operator for the die cutting operation. These are medium to high production range machines. Both series feature an automatic film clamping frame, guillotine sheet cut-off and adjustable forming length. The IF Series is similar to the FOM Series except that the heater ovens are inline for increased production rates. These are the perfect machines for medium volume OEMs that want to enter into in-house thermoforming.

Fully Automatic High Speed Pressure Formers with Inline Die Cutting

Starview has teamed up with OMG of Torino, Italy to offer the latest advances in high speed pressure formers with inline die cutting and finished part stacking. OMG's PVE and PVE-DDC Series pressure formers are designed for high production; operating at speeds of up to 30 cycles per minute. Pneumatics, hydraulics & toggles have been completely eliminated. Both the form press and the trim press are driven by electric servo motors. The film advance, the plug/grid assist and the stacker station are also servo driven. A color touch screen operator interface panel accesses all of the functions and stores job recipes in memory. These machines are designed for the high volume OEM or custom thermoformer.

Tooling

Starview offers complete tooling sets for its thermoforming machines. These include molds, pressure boxes, plug and grid assists, steel rule cutting dies and stacker station tooling. All thermoforming machine tooling is produced to exact customer needs.
